OUR HISTORY

The Southern Africa Coal Processing Society started in 1967 with three companies, namely Trans-Natal with Stan Lynch as representative, Rand Mines with Morris Milner as representative and Anglo with Tony Walters as representative.

Coal Person/Persons of the Year

Call for Nominations are normally sent out for the prestigious SACPS annual award for Coal Person of the Year (CPOTY). The aim of the award is to recognise an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the coal industry in the area of coal preparation.

The Coal Person of the Year (CPOTY) for 2025 was announced at the gala banquet on 16 May 2025. This award was presented to Jan Voges.

General Meeting

The Society’s AGM took place on 27 March 2025 at the CTC Auditorium, Stevenson Road, Emalahleni. Feedback was given by the current Chairperson, Vumeka Buthelezi and Jaco Scholtz, the current treasurer.

Technical Meetings

The 5th Technical Meeting of the Southern African Coal Processing Society for 2025 will be held on 27 November 2025 at 13h00. The venue is the CTC Auditorium, cnr. Watermeyer & Stevenson Streets, Emalahleni. Details of guest presenters will be communicated shortly.
