COAL METALLURGISTS AND PROCESS OPERATIONS WORKSHOP

The one-day COAL METALLURGISTS AND PROCESS OPERATIONS WORKSHOP will be held on 20 August 2026 at the Venue @ the Ridge, the call for papers can be downloaded here.  The abstract deadline is 17 July 2026 with final papers due by 7 August 2026.  Details regarding delegate registration, etc will be communicated soon.  Abstracts and papers to be sent to info@sacoalprep.co.za

ANNUAL DINNER

The annual dinner dance and awards function will take place on 15 May 2026 at Emperors Palace.

TECHNICAL MEETINGS 2026

The 3rd Technical Meeting of the Southern African Coal Processing Society for 2026 will be held at the Colliery Training College (CTC) Auditorium in Emalahleni on 28 May 2026.  Details of the presenters will be communicated soon.

A networking session with snacks and drinks will be held after the meeting at the CTC Lapa.

The 2nd Technical Meeting of the Southern African Coal Processing Society for 2026 was held at the Colliery Training College (CTC) Auditorium in Emalahleni on 26 March 2026 and held in conjunction with the Southern African Coal Processing Society AGM. The first presenter was Vicky van Schalkwyk from Glencore Operations South Africa who presented on “Why sampling accuracy matters”. The second presenter was Pervaan Pillay from Thungela Khwezela Colliery and he presented on “Optimization of magnetite recovery circuits in a Navigation coal-washing plant challenged with scaling due to gypsum formulation.

The 1st Technical Meeting of the Southern African Coal Processing Society for 2026 was held at the Colliery Training College (CTC) Auditorium in Emalahleni on 29 January 2026. The first presenter was Pieter Bezuidenhout, Managing Director of MBE Minerals who presented on “Recovering Lost Value in Coal Preparation Plants”. The second presenter was Frikkie Enslin, Product Manager – Cyclones, Multotec International (Pty) Ltd who presented on “The era of ESG consciousness and its effects on coal handling and processing plants”.
