The fifth Technical Meeting of 2019 of the Southern African Coal Processing Society  was held at the Colliery Training College (CTC) in Emalahleni on Thursday 21 November 2019 at 14h00.

The last meeting of every year is normally dedicated to presentations given by students that the society sponsors through the year.  We had five students who presented their findings on projects that they have been working on.
The presentations were as follows:

Sayuri Naidoo from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal who presented her project on the “Fluidization of ultra-fine particles”.

Mpho Ramudzwagi from the University of Johannesburg who presented his project on “Optimization and modeling the process of de-mineralizing coal using a hydrocyclone”.

Kgotlelelo Sekgobela from the University of Johannesburg who presented his project on “Assessing mineral matter content in South African coal and their effect on its strength properties”.

Nthabiseng Leokaoke from the University of North West who presented her project on “Green coal development for application in fixed-bed catalytic gasification”.

Lizah Setsepu from the University of the Witswatersrand who presented her project on “Development of a binder for use with discard coal fines”.

A lot of interest was seen from the audience who asked detailed questions to each of the presenters. Congratulations to all of the presenters on excellent presentations.
